What military education counts for promotion points? ›

Commandants List (on DA Form 1059) = 20-Points. Certain Resident Military Training (80-points Max) = 4-points per week. Ranger Qualification Course = 40-Points. Correspondence Courses (must complete in full) = 1-point per 5 hours.

You earn military education promotion points at the rate of 4-points per week of training. A week is defined as a minimum of 40 training hours.

Technical certifications are awarded 10 civilian education promotion points each and are limited to a maximum of five certificates (50-points max). These certificates must be TRADOC approved technical, industry, and/or professional certificates.

JRTC/NTCC/JRMC Rotation courses are worth promotion points and can be placed on the ERB/SRB.

Soldiers who have never taken a record APFT (in DTMS) will be awarded a minimum passing ACFT score (360 points) effective March 31, 2023.

Is CLS still worth promotion points? ›

Yes, but it's worth no more or less than any other ATTRS approved course though. TCCC CLS* (Tactical Combat Casualty Care Combat Lifesaver - replaced CLS) is a resident course and is on the approved YES/NO list* ... so 4 points.

The U.S. Army Promotion Points System

A soldier can earn a maximum of 800 promotion points across a variety of areas including training, fitness testing, deployments, and weapons qualification, just to name a few.

You may earn an initial enlistment rank of E-1, E-2 or E-3 with 20 or more semester hours of credit from a degree-granting college or university. You may opt to earn a college degree first, then join as an officer. This is an attractive option for those who feel called to lead.

2) Resident Military Training – These are courses that Soldiers must be registered for through ATRRS, physically sit in a classroom, and upon completion, be on the Soldier's ATRRS transcript.
