To unlock any of these four Scion classes, players will need to get two other classes up to level 75. Afterward, the player should head over to a Title Keeper and findTo the New Frontiertitle. This will unlock the access trials for these classes over at a Quest Counter. Simply select and complete the Luster Class Permit Trial to start. Once the player has handed their permit trial in, they can head over to a class counter to access the Luster class.
Things to ConsiderWhen Building a Luster Class in Phantasy Star Online 2
The Class Counter is also where the player can select both their main and subclass, as well as skill trees and load-outs. Luster can be used both as a class and sub-class, unlike Hero. After activating Luster as the character's class or sub-class, they should head into the weapon palette, equip a gunblade and then customize their photon arts.
For players who are just starting and are unsure of what placement they want their photon arts in, they can use the Smart Photon Arts which will choose their placements based on the way the player fights within this style. However, once a player feels more ready, they can customize this to their liking which will likely work better.
Players with the Luster class will want to focus on their Melee, Range, and Technique support Mags, as they will affect the player's abilities, unlike Dexterity. In particular, the Lust Mag converts the Attack of any of the equipped Melee, Range, and/or Technique power. This means that whichever of the three is at the highest will count for all of the attack types. Meaning that players should only invest in one of the three even if they aren't sure they will stick with that attack type.
How to Build and Use the Luster Class in Phantasy Star Online 2
The unique aspect of this class is the Voltage bar. This bar charges for every hit landed by the player. Its charge directly increases the player's damage by .02% and defense by .04% per point of Voltage. The Voltage bar can charge up to 9,999 but its effect caps out at 500. This will boost damage by 10% and defense by 20% at max. The voltage will deplete after five seconds but gifts the player HP and PP in exchange.
Elemental Gunblades will affect the type of damage dealt and the playstyle for the character. For a Defensive style gunblade, use either a Light or Ice gunblade. For a DPS style gunblade, use either a Dark or Fire-type gunblade. Lastly, for a speedier build that is more dodge focused, use either a Lightning or Air type gunblade.
Each of these styles has a name and specific special abilities to attributed to them. The Dark/Fire gunblade style is called Formel. Formel is a powerful and aggressive attack style that allows players to use Jellen whenever they wish by activating their enhanced attack. Their Voltage meter charges faster when they used abilities that are special to this class. Finally, the Photon Cluster in this style is a damage over time attack.
The Light/Ice gunblade style is called Baran. Baran is a very balanced tank. When using photon arts and normal attacks in this style, the player is granted guard frames. Photon Arts will charge up this playstyle's Voltage faster. The Photon Cluster grants a player in this style an extra 25% damage reduction. The Lightning/Wind gunblade style is called Zandi. Zandi is completely focused on speed and AOEs. This style stays quick with faster attacks and crowd control abilities. Their Voltage charges faster by using move arts like Flechette. The Photon Cluster summons bolts of lightning while the player attacks. Holding the normal attack in this style also creates a tornado-type AOE that pulls enemies in towards the player. With each of the styles being so interchangeable, players can be ready for any enemy with one switch.
For extra experience and Luster skill points, players should speak with the Luster class trainer. Cofy is the trainer for the Luster class, unlike other class trainers she'll be at her regular post at the Quest Counter. Here the player can accept the three aptitude tests available for the Luster class. Each of these aptitude tests will require the player to defeat three main enemies, and each one is set at an increasing level of difficulty. The first is in hard, the second in very hard, and the third in super hard.
