Step 3: Cream the butter and sugar until well-mixed in another bowl. Beat in egg yolk until well beaten. Stir in vanilla extract and mix well with a spatula or a whisk.

Step 4: Add half of the dry ingredients to the creamed butter and sugar mixture. Beat until well-mixed.

Step 5: Stir in milk and mix until well-blended. Add remaining dry ingredients and mix until well mixed.
