For free sites: The owner of any sites or content is the owner of the Wix account under which the content was created. In most cases, the owner of the account is considered to be the person or entity who has access to the email address listed in Wix's records.

Wix's policies state that you retain the rights to the content you create for your website. However, you grant Wix certain permissions to host and display your content. Understanding these policies helps you navigate copyright issues and safeguard your intellectual property on the platform.

To accept site ownership:

Click Accept Transfer in the email and sign in to your Wix account (if you are not already signed in). Note: If you don't have an account, click Sign Up to create one. Review the transfer details and click Next. Enter your billing information and click Next.

Find the domain owner and registration details for a website using the Wix Whois Lookup. Enter in the full name of the site to bring up details including the domain name, the registrar details, the date the domain was registered and when it expires.

Connect a domain you already own to your site. If you purchased the domain from another registrar, you can connect it to Wix and choose who hosts the domain records. You can also connect a domain purchased from Wix, by transferring it from the relevant site / account.

To transfer account ownership to another team member:

Hover over Settings and click Team Members. Hover over the relevant team member and click the Show More icon . Click Make Owner. Type Transfer and click Transfer Ownership.
